Privacy Policy for Multi Page PDF Downloader

Multi Page PDF Downloader ("we," "our," or "the extension") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and handle your information when you use our Chrome Extension.

1. Information We Collect

A. Account Information

If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address to manage your subscription plan and save your download preferences. You may sign up using your email/password or via Google Sign-In (OAuth). Even if you browse as a guest, we do not access your personal Google-account data beyond the basic profile info required for authentication.

B. Usage Data

We use strictly limited analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) to understand general usage patterns, such as:

  • Number of downloads initiated.
  • Errors encountered during scanning.
  • Basic geographical region (e.g., country level). We do NOT look at or store the content of the files you download.

2. How We Use Permissions

This extension requires specific browser permissions to function. Here is why we need them:

  • Read and modify all your data on the websites you visit (<all_urls>activeTab):

    • Why? The core feature of this extension is to scan web pages for PDF links. To find these files, the extension scripts must "read" the webpage's code (HTML/DOM).
    • Important: We do not collect your browsing history, passwords, or form data. The extension only activates its scanning logic when you interact with the popup or automated scan features.
  • Manage your downloads (downloads):

    • Why? To save the PDF files to your computer, the extension needs permission to trigger the browser's download manager.
  • Scripting & Web Request:

    • Why? Used to inject the "Deep Scan" scripts that find hidden or dynamically loaded PDFs on complex websites.

3. Data Storage and Security

  • Local Processing: The scanning and analysis of web pages happen locally on your device. We do not send the URLs you visit to our servers unless specifically required for an analytics event (e.g. "Scan Failed on [URL]"), and even then, personal data is stripped.
  • Authentication Data: secure authentication is handled via Firebase Authentication (Google). We do not store your passwords in plain text.

4. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services for infrastructure:

  • Google Firebase: For authentication and database hosting.

5. Your Choices

You can uninstall the extension at any time to remove all local data. You may also request the deletion of your account (if you created one) via the extension interface.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our features or legal requirements. Updates will be posted on the Chrome Web Store listing.
